About Agentic AI: The New Disruptor on the Block. Risks and Opportunities

Agentic AI refers to AI systems and models that can act autonomously to achieve goals without the need for constant human guidance.

We will discuss the latest AI developments, the exciting possibilities of agentic AI, the (sometimes hilarious) things that go wrong, our predictions as to impact on digital business models (yes, there is a frantic AI Agents competition going on between Big Tech), and what needs to happen to embed this new technology in our society and economy.

We will discuss the risk mitigation measures the legal department needs to advise when the business implements a digital shopping assistant, split out over technical, operational and contractual measures.

The session ends with a discussion of digital sovereignty issues. The EU is at a crossroads: do we opt for a strong investment in sovereign, responsible AI, or do we become even more dependent on U.S. Big Tech? The European Commission responded on 8 October 2025 with a strong action plan "Apply AI Strategy", the core part of which is to realize own sovereign generative AI-models and AI agents that comply with EU law and public values. If the complaint is that Big Tech's LLMs do not comply with our rules and public values, we will have to innovate to make this happen. What does the action plan look like and what can you recommend the business to benefit from these action plans?
